StoryA profile of
Huntington Beach People:
Beverly and Joel Cincotta are 35 year residents of
Huntington Beach, 34 of them in the same home. Beverly
worked for the Ocean View School District and then for a
doctor. Joel is a retired Compton firefighter.
Their favorite HB places
include the beach, Sugar Shack, and
Dukes. They
especially like the half-price menu during Happy Hour!
They are also big fans of Tuesday nights downtown. When
they have visitors in from out of town, the
Huntington Beach Pier and the
wetlands are high on their 'show-em' list.
Beverly has been active
in the HB Assistance League, helping to put on
fund-raisers and other events in Huntington Beach and
Fountain Valley. She especially liked the projects that
provided clothing for kids. Joel is a long-time surfer.
He has a 1950 Ford Wagon, a familiar vehicle to anyone
aware of surf culture. He is a member of the SoCal Woody
Club and joyfully talks about having surfed with
dolphins right here in HB waters.
The Cincotta family
includes 30 year-old son Scott, who lives in Catalina
and works for the Harbor Patrol. Among Scott's
accomplishments is having taken a 24-foot fishing boat
from Catalina to Panama.
Last summer Beverly and
Joel took a two-month driving tour to and through Alaska
. And while they are loyal to HB, they were impressed
with what they saw in the far north, including glaciers,
waterfalls, bears, elk, and caribou.
