Imagine marrying someone who lived down the street from
you when you were young. Not that unusual. Now imagine
that the street you both lived on in Huntington Beach
was only one block long. That is unusual. Now imagine
that as youngsters on that one-block-long HB street you
did not even know one another! If you can imagine that,
then you can imagine Matt and Cathy Cornell.
Of course, you don't need
to imagine Matt and Cathy. They are part of a very real
Huntington Beach family. Matt and Cathy met on Catalina
Island . Matt was there as part of a group called
Huntington Beach Pirates. Cathy was there with friends.
As they got to know each other, they discovered their
mutual neighborhood ties.
Matt and Cathy were
married in 2004. They have a daughter. Her name' Catalina!
The Cornells are an
active HB family. Catalina takes classes for littl'un's
at the community center. They are regular attendees at
story time at the library. And they are annual
supporters of the Duck-a-thon.
Among their favorite
places in HB are Aloha Grill, Longboards, the dog beach,
the Pier, the
Central Library and
Central Park . They
also can be seen at various playgrounds and parks that
they can ride their bikes to.
Matt is a tradeshow
installer in union local 831. Cathy is a stay-at-home
Mom who is kept busy with Catalina.
