Originally built in 1904 and rebuilt most recently
during the early 1990s, the Huntington Beach Pier
is one of the longest recreational fishing piers in California. Stretching 1,853
feet into the Pacific Ocean, it is a
favorite spot for fishermen,
families and romantics who flock
here daily to enjoy the
'million-dollar' sunsets.
Anglers visit Huntington Beach to fish from the
pier on the beach, and guest moor
their boats at Huntington Harbour
during ocean travels. Surf fishers catch corbina, croaker, guitarfish, perch, sand sharks and sargo
near the shore. From the pier,
you'll see catches such as bass, bonito, butterfish, halibut, jacksmelt,
mackerel, sardines, turbot, sharks,
eels and seaweed, when not so lucky.
You can rent a rod and reel on the pier
from Let's Go Fishin' bait and tackle (714.960.1392). Although a fishing
license is not required on the pier, a fishing license is required
everywhere else if you are 16 years or older.
