How many times have you visited
some historic home, toured each and every room, heard stories
about the family that owned the abode and what they did--how
they survived--and when the died' California is filled with
beautifully restored historic homes that tourists can visit and
enjoy. One such place in Huntington Beach, Calif. is the
Newland House,
a Victorian home that belonged to one of the city's earliest
resident families, the Newlands.
The Newland House is open for
tours, and during the holidays they often decorate the home in
festive lights, a holiday tree, and even host a celebration with
Santa, songs, and an open house one evening. At one such event
we met a granddaughter of the Newland family credited as some of
the first landowners, merchants, city officials and bankers
helping to establish the City of Huntington Beach.
In the photograph, the lady with
the lime green sweater is the Newland granddaughter, who
attended an open house with her family.
Newland House is open several times per month on
weekends, and provides an for a guided tour of the
historic home located at Newland Center at the cross
streets of Beach Blvd. & Adams Ave. in Huntington Beach,
