Red or Black' Swimsuits Are Coming on Strong -- and Bold!

A fashionista wears a red suit to accent her red hair. The faux white  hip-belt accent give the appearance of a more formal suit and the neck bandana add to that look. Very unique! On the right is "HEYDICK"

Women's and girls' bathing suits and bikinis at Huntington Beach have never been so stylish, cute and fun.  With the large exaggerated flower shapes of the 1960s and 1970s, fringe skirt treatments, belt trims and every color imaginable, it's a fantastic season to pick and choose your swimsuit statement.

>What's in are colors brown, black, blue and pink. But we've also seen turquoise, lime, melon and green. The pants or bottoms and bra tops usually will borrow one color from the other portion of a 2-piece suit and integrate it into the design of the matching or accompanying piece. Bottoms are generally a pant or shortie skirt. Big buckles and dangly, hip details are still the big thing this year, except you will be seeing more swimsuits that have the jewel, ring, or buckle on only one hip. Sash ties, rather than spaghetti strings are definitely in vogue. The styles are ideal for the beach, the "in" place for fashionable bikini apparel.

Tops this year are mostly bra-style tie strings or sashes around the neck and the back. The classic halter-top in an elongated sliding top or the stationary bandini banded style, not quite a Tankini, but not a bikini top either. Retro looks are a really, big, deal. South Seas inspired bikinis, with chunky shells and coconut details, green and pink, coral and chocolate brown are in. Girly looks with pretty florals and loads of adorable ruffles make the girls and women look sweet. More coverage is the trend and swimsuits are starting to take on the look of streetwear with skirtini that covers the bum nicely and goes great with a little cami for a day in town.

In Huntington Beach, the styles change all year long. California swim wear manufacturers test their clothing on a local audience that can wear the clothes throughout the year. In other cities and states, you may see the styles arrive on a yearly basis and change annually. Not so in Huntington Beach. Styles in Southern California often receive soft introductions in a select well-positioned beach swim store before going into large scale production. These test designs can be introduced any time but large scale production and marketing has to be timed for outside this perfect weather mecca.

Diane's Swimwear and Merrilee's are two shops that specialize in swimsuits, bathing suits, beach wear and fashionable cover-ups in Huntington Beach. You'll find them on the ever popular Main Street.

The beaches where you'll find the best swimsuit fashion tend to be near the Huntington Beach Pier at Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street.
