Huntington Beach, CA--Don't try this unless you know
how to surf! On rare occasion you'll see some fancy
surfing near the Huntington Beach Pier. Photographer
Chris MacDonald happened upon one such situation and
managed to capture this exciting surfing session in
which a woman rides on the surf board with the man, then
mounts onto his shoulders for one spectacular wave /
show.
Huntington Beach is a paradise for surfers seeking
enough wave action to be able to ride most days. It is
not known as having the best waves in the world, but on
the West Coast it is one of the best places providing
consistencies of around two -to- four foot waves. And
when a storm rolls in from the Pacific, the waves can
crest at around five -to- eight feet.
Surfing events throughout the year don't generally
include contest categories for tandem surfing, but there
are many surfing events such as US Open of Surfing (the
biggest) and league competition for National Scholastic
Surfing Association (NSSA), and other surfing
associations and groups.
