Lake Park
12th Street
and Main Street Huntington Beach, CA 92648
Lake Park in downtown Huntington Beach is
a trip back in time to a wooden park bench
where you sit a while, enjoying the
powder-blue sky, shaded green lawns and the
sounds of children at play. Surrounded by
unique homes offset from old-fashioned Main
Street, the experience is both timeless and
priceless.
On most days you'll see kids romping on
the playground equipment or riding their
little bikes along the paths of this scenic
eight acre park that's surrounded by Main,
11th, 12th and
Lake Streets, six blocks from
the beach and nine blocks from the
Huntington Beach Pier.
Lake Park is one of Huntington Beach's
favorite locations for event planning. It
features the largest state-of-the-art
outdoor cooking facilities adjacent to a
club house that includes a kitchen and room
with a piano. Huntington Beach High School
graduates often hold reunions at Lake Park,
brides and grooms get married there, Boy
Scouts hold meetings and each year on July
4, the Kiwanis hold a pancake breakfast
fund-raiser before the famous parade marches
down Main Street. Restroom facilities are
provided at the clubhouse for event
rentals. If you think a city of 200,000
residents seems too large, Lake Park
provides that intimate space to make you
feel at home and welcome.
The park includes a large meeting and
event area with curbside parking on Lake
Street. That's where the clubhouse, large
cement picnic patio with picnic tables,
stainless cook tops on huge brick ovens and
horseshoe pits are located. The clubhouse
and large picnic area are available for rent
through the City of Huntington Beach
Community Services department. Call: (714)
536-5486.
Midway in the park with curbside parking
on 12th Street are the playgrounds with
slides, swings and ladders in a large sand
area. There are several wooden park benches
for parents to sit and watch their children
play, plus scattered picnic tables under
shady groves for small gatherings. The
individual tables are available on a first
come first serve basis.
