Do You Believe in Magic' It's All
in a Name at Monarch Magic
Last night I watched the return of Arsenio Hall with Magic Johnson, comedian George Lopez (half the punch lines on his jokes were bleeped so I couldn't understand what he was saying,) 'and Arsenio's favorite band, Nas. 'Arsenio showed old photos from his previous show in which Magic appeared, and he reminisced about how Johnson's life seems like "magic". Is it any wonder that they call him Magic'
This week Monarch Magic 'is featured at Normal Brandel Gibbs Park, AKA Gibbs Butterfly Park. The park was lovingly adopted by local citizen Leslie Gilson who for over five years has worked her magic to make the park a pride of HB. Each year she hosts an event in the park called Monarch Magic, featuring her puppet show that educates kids and adults on the life cycle of a butterfly. There's a butterfly parade, kids entertainment throughout the afternoon and Italian Ice treats sold. 'Monarch Magic event is indeed, a sprinkle or two of fairy dust to brighten the lives of all who live, visit and drive by Gibbs Park. Like Magic Johnson, 'Magic Gilson believed in the worn down city park and has spent countless hours toiling to create some butterfly magic with the planting of milkweed and other features that attract Monarchs. You'll believe when you see it on Sept. 15, 2013, Noon to 4 p.m. Graham between Heil and Warner. Free to attend. |
