If you've never heard & seen cannon fire, met Abe Lincoln and experienced real Civil War encampments, now is your time to immerse yourself. This morning starting with church out in the woods (Central Park in Huntington Beach.) It was a warm, sunny morning with a cool ocean breeze helping the air stay pleasant. The pastor spoke about God and salvation. Approx. 50 folks attended the service. They do so before they return to tend to injured soldiers, cook and their camps and prepare for their next battle. There are two mock battles per days.
Celebrating its 20th birthday in 2013, the Huntington Beach Civil War is an event you hopefully will see at least once. Note, while pets are permitted in the park, some react negatively to the battles, guns and cannons. You might be doing them a favor to leave your pets at home.
Location: Central Park, 7111 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach. Dates: Labor Day Weekend Saturday & Sunday
