Huntington Beach Resident Wrote
Songs the World Remembers
World-renowned'Huntington Beach composer, trombonist, arranger and conductor, Frank Comstock, 90, passed away in May 2013, but his amazing talents and countless songs will keep people smiling for years to come. Not everyone knew him well, though Doris Day stood side-by-side for many years with the man who wrote tunes helping launch her career.
(Day, 89, recently won a 2014 Guinness record for longest female career, beating out the likes of Betty White. Day said she lied about her age as a youngster so she could land singing gigs with big bands.) Nearly three-quarters of the songs Comstock wrote weren't even credited to his name but when you hear the Electrical Light Parade at Disneyland, or By the Light of the Silvery Moon, think FRANK COMSTOCK! He was the master of recognizable tunes that can evoke joy, melancholy, romance, adventure...whatever.
