No Ka Oi
is located in downtown Huntington Beach
restaurant row. The long-awaited restaurant
that replaced Champagne Bakery (now in South Coast Plaza) is
a Hawaiian-themed indoor and outdoor restaurant that's
casual, friendly and very tasty. The chef's menu brings
unique dishes from the islands to Huntington Beach's Main
Street. Surrounded by other great places such as
Longboard
Restaurant & Pub and Killarney, No Ka Oi provides
sandwiches, salads and meals for those who seek something
special. The chef created his own line of salad dressings
that use vanilla bean flavor and are out of this world.
From delicious appetizers to sandwiches, steaks and fish,
guests crave this special faire and enjoy the Main Street
location featuring indoor and al fresco dining, plus a full
bar serving cocktails and beer on tap. Meals are served
daily during lunch and dinner (open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
but be sure and call first). Banquet facilities, catering,
take out, children's menu and a full bar are offered at No
Ka Oi.
Of note at this restaurant is
the coffee. No Ka Oi actually owns a coffee plantation on
the Hawaiian Islands and imports its beans fresh, providing
a strong, rich flavor to the coffee drinks served. If sold
elsewhere, the coffee would be priced at $40/pound! But
since they grow and import the coffee beans, they bring this
special treat to guests. Discussion of packaging and selling
the coffee is an idea that may occur one day. But for now,
you can only purchase the coffee, like all the other teas
and tropical drinks served while dining or at the elegant
bar that looks like a piece of art when all lit up.
