A popular, new event
in Huntington Beach, Surf City Nights, is a shopping and dining destination
street fair that has given downtown restaurants and shops a shot in the arm on
Tuesday nights, attracting several thousand people. The event takes place on
Main Street and the surrounding shopping and dining area, with the second and
third blocks of Main closed to vehicle traffic Tuesday evenings.
Traditionally one of
the slowest nights of the week in Huntington Beach, the street fair and organic
farmers market creates a family-friendly environment with entertainment catered
to all ages.
Due to the popular
success of this new event, HBDBID is poised to expand its schedule of Tuesday
night street closures, hoping for more events to follow. Seeking sponsorship to
maintain the program is the goal of Connie Pedenko, executive
director of the HBDBID. "We're working hard to find sponsors to help pay
for this new venture that the public loves," said the former Los Alamitos
Chamber of Commerce CEO and longtime resident of Huntington Beach. Pedenko works
on behalf of downtown Huntington Beach businesses to create a thriving,
family-friendly environment for residents and tourists. Corporate and individual
sponsorships are available.
