Steve Daniel- Opened meeting at 2:05 PM

RE: Presentation
- Lee Ostendorf, SCN Farmers Market
Coordinator, spoke to the BOD on the importance of keeping the
market open year round. An alternative winter layout plan to
reviewed, particularly the use of the 2nd and 3rd
block, rather than the 1st block. Ron spoke of the
need to do more SCN advertising. Connie told the BOD that she
met with Nova and the Economic Development has future plans to
advertise in the OC weekly and the Register.

RE: Old Business
- Marathon, Feb. 1-3- Connie and Susie reported the
Surf City Marathon 'Runners Guide' is slow going and more
attention will be given after the holidays, with the help of the
Ambassadors. Connie got the pricing on the Shuttle in the amount
of $90.00 an hour. Ron, Connie and Amy to create a route and
hours of operation. BOD has decided not only to create a Runners
Guide, but also request an exhibit space at no charge
- Woody Car Show, March 7th & 8th- Ron and Connie met
with Tom Long and Bob Jiminiz the Woody Car Show organizers.
They expressed the need for help with lodging for the
participants, since a 2nd day, had been approved by their BOD.
Connie contacted Best Western, and gave Tom Long all the key
contact information. Ron sent a memo out to the Hilton and the
Hyatt. Connie contacted Naida at the City to see the possibility
of parking cars on the Pier, and was informed the request needs
to come in with the car show permit. Tom Long was given the key
contacts, of the Auto Dealer Association by Connie. BID to
assist where needed
- Paint Ball, March 27-30- Connie reported she has a
call out to the Paint Ball organizer Gavin Smith and Kara
Kottler, to see how the BID may possible participate and have an
exhibit table again this year at no charge. Connie reminded the
Board per discussion at the April 10, 2007 BOD meeting,
statement on record
- General Liability Insurance- Connie has contacted a
local Insurance Broker for a quote. Waiting for response.
- HBDBID By-laws- Discussion tabled to next board
meeting
- BID
General Membership- Meeting/Mixer was changed to Thursday
February 21, 2008. Brett to contact Stephanie at Fred's to see
if meeting room available.
RE: New Business
- Downtown Marquee's- Connie presented some photos of
other cities marquees that were presented at the last Downtown
Economic Development Committee meeting. Connie also met with
Nova to discuss possible sign locations and due to downtown
power challenge's, solar type signs are being researched. It was
once again suggested that Connie contact Dick Harlow, who has
done past research on possible types of downtown signs.
