Chuck And Barbara Steel presented a $25,000 check and Howard Makler, John Trommald and Rochelle Pazanti donated money to help the Bolsa Chica Land Trust meet their goal.
In addition to the major financial donors at the event, Gerald Chapman, President of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, Flossie Horgan, Executive Director of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, Bolsa Chica Land Trust members, Eileen Murphy, Julie Bixby, Carrie Thomas, Former Huntington Beach Mayor Connie Boardman and Huntington Beach City Council Member Keith Bohr (seen at Jr. Lifeguard Pancake Breakfast, the opening of restaurant Ra Sushi, officiating Surfers Hall of Fame, attending Surfing Walk of Fame, at the City of Huntington Beach Rose Garden Ceremony, Senior Saturday, Surfing Sundays) attended. Matt Liffering, host Of Surf City Highlights on Channel 3 also attended.
State Assemblyman Jim Silva was instrumental in getting this project going with a representative from Silva's office presenting an award for the success in meeting goals.
In addition to officials at the event, Huntington Beach Kiwanis members Bob Slater and Chris MacDonald represented their club, which is a volunteer community organization that recently featured a presentation by Flossie Horgan, who spoke about the Bolsa Chica efforts at their meeting.
If you have any questions about this new walkbridge, or would like to contribute, call Flossie Horgan at: (714) 846-1001.
Note: This recent effort to connect the learning center facility to the walking trails is but one in a series of victories accomplished through volunteerism. It is also one more connection that exemplifies strong support for the ecosystems that are being lost. In August 2006 the tidal inlet officially opened, connecting the wetlands to the ocean in Huntington Beach
