Ground Squirrel at Huntington Beach Wetlands
GROUND SQUIRREL
COPYRIGHT D.STOCK
COPPYRIGHT D.STOCK
Ground squirrels are abundant and easy to see in California, especially at Huntington Beach wetlands. You'll notice a network of tunnels near the water line that extends to the parking lot.  In the balance of nature, humans have fed these little critters, causing them to frequent the parking lot for food. If you can refrain from feeding these animals, you will help the environment and ecosystem of this sensitive region.

The ground squirrels provide great entertainment with their busy activities so close to humans. Except for pigeons and seagulls, most other rodents, animals and water fowl at the Huntington Beach Ecological Reserve are not quite as sociable.

Get your camera out and take photos of the variety of animal and bird life at this 3-D wonderland. Birds fly overhead, broadcasting sounds that bounce off the wall buffer of the coastal Seacliff bluffs, thus creating an experience that's unique and very exciting.
