Huntington Beach is especially fond
of good waves. The surfers count on them
for winning competitions, and for honing
skills, or simply experiencing a
fantastic ride, courtesy of mother
nature. That is why it seems appropriate
to celebrate the
Blessing of the Waves
which launched in 2008. In solidarity
with other faith religions the Roman
Catholic Diocese of Orange hosts
Blessing of the Waves, an
inter-religious community event to show
spiritual appreciation for the ocean and
all that it gives the planet and its
population. This gathering demonstrates
concern for a cherished environment
already compromised by the effects of
climate change, toxic emissions, and
other pollution.
