Duke Kahanamoku Stamp was issued on
August 25, 2002.

Noon - 30 minute Duke Kahanamoku first day
issue (on the mainland) of the "Duke"
37-cent postage stamp. Thanks to the efforts
of dedicated individuals from the Huntington
Beach International Surf Museum, the stamp
became a reality after a letter campaign and
lobbying were met with success.
The dedication graphic below includes these
words:
Hawaiian swimmer, surfer, and Olympic gold
medalist Duke Kahanamoku (1890 - 1968) was
renowned not only for his athletic prowess,
but also for his grace, humility, and good
sportsmanship. He is widely considered to be
the father of international surfing.
