On the south end of the Huntington Beach
beaches is Huntington State Beach. Is one of two state
beaches located in the city, and is separated from the other
state beach (Bolsa Chica State Beach) by approx. five miles
and a span of beachfront known as Huntington City Beach.
One thing these beaches all share that
attracts tourists and locals out in the cool - to - warm
night air is the bonfire. Bonfire rings or square shaped
encasements are available on the flat sand beach first come
first serve. You must bring your own fire wood and matches
to start the fire, but once you stake claim to a pit, you
can light a fire and enjoy yourself.
Huntington State Beach parking runs from
Beach Blvd. to Brookhurst Street along Pacific Coast
Highway. The parking admission is a flat fee (around $15 on
last observation) and is parking is normally ample for
tourism, though peak days include 4th of July and the last
week of July & first weekend in August for the US Open of
Surfing, that swamps the parking lots with traffic. Labor
Day weekend traffic also can create a shortage of parking,
just so you know.
Bonfire rules generally include no wood
palates, no glass, and if you bring sticks or tools to cook
your hotdogs and marshmallows, be sure to take them with you
or throw them away in trash cans. Also put out your fire
when you leave.
If you are looking for action closer to the
pier, try your luck at
Huntington
City Beach bonfire rings. Winter months and off-season
are usually wide-open for accessing bonfire rings.
