Australian brand Cult launched their first retail store in the
U.S. market with a shop in downtown Huntington Beach,
California. Its broad appeal and branded products include men's
and women's apparel, accessories, surfboards, wetsuits, hats,
shirts, shoes, shawls and other items owners Doug Spong and Gary
'Spike' Richards believe are targeted to the tried and true Cult
audience that's grown steadily in Australia. With 600 active
products every season in the line, the newcomers to HB believe
their 2,100-square-foot showroom will attract attention on the
footpath to the beach. Surfers, beach-goers and shoppers
routinely pass by this stretch of Main on the peripheral of the
core three to four-block area of downtown.
Building everything from
scratch in Huntington Beach, over 1,000 photos were taken to
strategize placement of displays and spaces in the store that
was previously a CD shop. Opened on August 11, 2006, the shop
offers an exciting, surf-inspired vibe, filled with clothes for
girls and guys that reflect the latest colors and trends.
Casual, warm climate clothes and cool surfboards set the mood to
the beat of action surf videos accompanied by energetic music.
Stepping from the sidewalks and street action to into the shop,
you feel like you've entered an insulated, comfortable world
very much connected with its surroundings, yet comfortably set
apart.
Other Cult Industries
stores are located in Argentina, Canada, Indonesia, Europe,
Malaysia and New Zealand.
