Huntington Beach's  Bolsa Chica Wetlands Birds
Photos and Information

Bolsa Chica Wetlands (Ecological Reserve) is great for watching birds

For a stunning, 3-D experience with sights, sounds and wonderment only available in nature, visit the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserves, commonly known as the wetlands. It is located on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, directly across Highway 1 entrance to Bolsa Chica State Beach. Open daily from dawn to dusk, there's free parking, a 1.5 mile loop trail and a bridge you can stand on and watch the birds sore, dart and dive bomb into the water to snatch their daily meals from the ocean inlet waters.

A significant wetlands region in the Pacific Flyway for migratory birds, rare and endangered species stop at Bolsa Chica during their very long journeys. It is also a year round home to numerous species that you can see daily. Take binoculars, cameras and jackets in the winter. Do not take bicycle and pets because you won't be permitted to ride bikes or walk your dog in the area.
