Huntington Beach, California is located in the Northern Hemisphere in the United States of America (USA) on the west coast of California. California is bounded to the south by Mexico, to the north by Oregon and to the east by Nevada and Arizona.

Huntington Beach is located in the County of Orange, one of 58 counties in California. Huntington Beach is one of 478 incorporated cities in California and one of 34 cities in Orange County. Orange County contains 798 square miles with 42 miles of coastline, 9 beaches, 3 harbors, 11 public and 7 private universities.

Huntington Beach extends 8.5 miles along the Pacific Ocean and is bounded to the northern shore by Sunset Beach, southern shore by Newport Beach and west by Catalina Island, 22 miles away. Huntington Beach city boundaries include 28 square miles of ocean waters. Other cities that share boundaries with Huntington Beach include Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa and Westminster.

Huntington Beach is served by several national airports, Long Beach Airport and Orange County Airport nearby, Los Angeles International Airport provides the most flights daily and is approximately 35 miles form Huntington Beach.

Huntington Beach geography is mostly flat with an elevation of sea level to several feet above sea level. Huntington Beach streets are plotted primarily in a grid formation except in some residential tracts and along the coastline. Most roads run north to south or east to west and the majority of roads are open to the public. New home tracts primarily in the SeaCliff area are gated. All roads open to the public offer free access with no toll fees charged.
