HUNTINGTON BEACH CALIFORNIA PUBLIC PARKS

Murdy Skate Park
7000 Norma Drive
Huntington Beach, CA 92647

Murdy Skate Park is small skate facility facing Golden West Street between Warner and Heil Avenues. It is one of three skate parks in Huntington Beach operated by the City of Huntington Beach through the Park Maintenance Department. It is especially busy in the afternoons when school is out and during summer months as a local place for kids to go and hone their skills. Murdy Skate Park includes a rail, steps, banks and ledges. There is no fee to use this skate park and free parking is provided nearby.

Skate parks in Huntington Beach include Murdy Park, Huntington Beach High School and Oak View. For heavier skate challenges, you'll find skaters taking it to the streets, making their own ramps and course designs. There's also a huge bowl and great skating at Van's at The Block in Orange.

It is possible to perform over a thousand tricks on a skateboard. Yonah Cohen and Jorge Aguilar performed tricks at Murdy Skate Park recently that included a Backside 180˚ Kick Flip,  360˚ Kick Flip, Front Side Nose Grind, on the couch a Front Side Blunt, Backside 180˚, Nolli Kick Flip, Nolli Hill Flip and a Switch Front Side Pop Shove-it.

The City of Huntington Beach (California) is the caretaker and steward of the Huntington Beach public park system. Two departments involved with Huntington Beach parks are the Community Services Department and Park Maintenance. Park Maintenance is responsible for maintaining approximately 67 parks and public facilities, totaling 598 acres, 169 playground apparatus and irrigation systems.

Park Maintenance is also an integral component in special events in the City, closely working with Community Services to set up for events and activities that take place on or near park facilities. Community Services not only handles the rental of the park facilities but also operates programs for the public that include softball leagues, exercise classes, cooking, dancing and other types of interesting and fun things to do. For more information on park maintenance call (714) 536-5480.  For information on park facilities or to make a reservation call Community Services at (714) 536-5486 or the phone numbers provided on the featured parks pages.
