Newland House Christmas is
a festive place and atmosphere that
rings through the air. Handbell
choirs often come to the Newland
House to perform at a holiday
reception for families and children.
It is truly a memorable experience
to stand outside in front of the
house on the lush, grass lawn in
December when the air takes on a
slight chill. Dressed in red jackets
and sweaters, the bell ringers
perform Christmas and religious
holiday favorite songs that are so
unique, you wish the feeling would
never end. Looking from the dark
into the Victorian home all aglow
with lights and trees, it is easy to
long for a simpler time without cell
phone, cell towers, desalination
plants and the modern trappings that
Newland family knew nothing about
during the turn of the 20th century.
This
family were some of the earliest
modern-day residents of a town
called Pacific City, and they helped
shape the local economy with banks,
transportation, the food their farm
supplied and sold. Be sure to
visit the Newland House before
Christmas to enjoy this once in
lifetime experience!
