Huntington Beach - Ruby's
Surf City Diner has
been in existence since 1980. Founded by native Southern
California, Doug Cavanaugh, his first shop opened on the
Newport Beach Pier. Franchise opportunities are available
through The Ruby Restaurant Group corporate offices. In Southern California, Ruby's
can be found on the Huntington Beach, Seal Beach and Balboa
Beach Piers, to name a few locations. The Huntington Beach
Pier location includes a beautiful building that creates a
focal point for the pier. It's red tile roof and aquamarine
colored door trims create a strikingly noticeable color
scheme visible for miles away.
Ruby's Diner
Ruby's
Surf City Diner
replaced End of the Pier Cafe, a landmark for years. To see
photos and commemorate items of days gone by, visit
Alice's
Breakfast in the Park. A scrap book there commemorates the
family that owned and ran the venue until winds cause
closure and reconstruction of the entire Huntington Beach
Pier. We love dining at Ruby's. Beautiful forever
ocean views grace nearly every table in the restaurant. The
very clean tables, doors and floors all create an inviting
atmosphere. Add to that a solid menu and affordable
prices and you'll see why guests will often stand and wait
for a table up to one hour. Many times, there are no
waits and no lines so don't be discouraged by Ruby's Diner
popularity. Call and get a status report for the wait time.
The Ruby Restaurant Group celebrates two decades (20 years)
with plans to more than double its 38 restaurants over the
next five years. There are approximately 15 Rubys
Diners in Orange County.
Ruby's 1940s diner was named after Chairman and CEO Doug
Cavanaugh's mother and draws diners from all age groups.
Ruby's decor includes bright red vinyl booths and white
Formica tables, soda fountains and colorful Coca-Cola period
posters.
What's in a name' Themes reflecting local environments are
simple to modify on an individual basis: Ruby's Surf City
Diner is located on the Huntington Beach Pier and Ruby's
Super Chief Diner is located next to the San Juan Capistrano
train station.
There is no validated parking for Ruby's Diner. You
can, however, park at the base of the pier in City Beach
parking lots. In the busy summer
months, those who prefer not to walk can ride bicycle
pedicabs to the end of the pier for free, though tips are
the norm, making the ride available for a small fee.
